#1: A Relaxing day at Crooked River Ranch
Rise and shine! Relax with a warm beverage while admiring the glow of sunrise. Once you are feeling bright eyed and busy tailed, lace up your boots or walking footwear and hike Steelhead Falls. Make sure to pack a picnic and enjoy it on a blanket while embracing the gorgeous backdrop of natural scenery and melodic sounds of the Deschutes. The trail may be slippery in areas, so be mindful of your footing. In the afternoon, once the wintertime temperatures have warmed head over to the Crooked River Ranch Golf Course, home of the # 5 Canyon Hole. Admire the sublimity of the high desert landscape and Crooked River Canyon while navigating the beautiful course. Dine or unwind at the Sandbagger Saloon, Over The Edge Taphouse, or Charlies Big Dog Saloon after your round. Finish off the day by watching the sun go down while listening to soft music on the cabin porch or cuddled around the firepit with S’mores and hot cocoa.
#2: A laidback, booklovers retreat to Bend
Sleep in or start the day with a leisurely walk. Once you have rustled up an appetite, travel to The Victorian Café, winner of one of the “best” places to dine in Bend more than 15 times, for a unique breakfast or brunch experience. Stomach and hearts full, visit Drake Park and stroll the Drake Park Loop Trail along Mirror Pond. Watch for waterfowl frolicking in the water. Share a huggable moment from the wooden footbridge. Visit nearby shops. And search for the perfect downtime book at Dudley’s Bookshop Café. For dinner dine at the iconic Pine Tavern, which features their famous sourdough scones, cozy dining nooks, and giant Ponderosa pines growing in the middle of the dining area. End the day sipping coffee or hot chocolate sitting on a park bench overlooking Mirror Pond.
#3: Ocean to Mountain, a culinary treat
In the morning, get an early start and head into Bend for breakfast at The Sparrow Bakery. Find out for yourself why they have a cult following, seriously! Enjoy their signature Ocean Roll or other menu offerings before traveling to the Bend Rock Gym for some climbing or yoga. Reserve an after-class massage with the Massage Project and feel yourself melt into the table with relaxation. Before leaving town have lunch at the Wild Rose Northern Thai Eats – the best Thai food without having to travel half way around the globe – before traveling to the HooDoo Ski Area to dash through the snow beneath the starry nighttime sky. If you still have energy left, stop in the Sister’s Saloon on the way back to the cabins for a fun and delicious dinner.
#4 Broaden your mind and explore!
Grab a cup of coffee or tea from the Terrebonne Coffee Wagon on the way to breakfast or brunch at the Lemon Tree in downtown Bend. The head over to the High Desert Museum and spend most of the day exploring, it’s their 40th anniversary this year! Have a delicious lunch at the Rimrock Café. Once you have explored the museum to your hearts content, begin the evening with a challenge by choosing a Puzzle Effect escape room adventure. Finish off the day enjoying a movie at the Regal Old Mill IMAX & ScreenX.
