Golf Courses
1) The Crooked River Ranch Golf Course – Is home to the most spectacular golf hole in Oregon, winning the OGA’s Most Interesting Golf Hole Contest! If you are looking for great golf and spectacular views, then Crooked River Ranch Golf Course has what you are looking for. The 18 hole par 71 gem is player friendly with a little bite to it.
2) Juniper Golf Club – A sneaky good course located just down the street from the regional airport in Redmond, Juniper Golf Club should be on your must-play list when visiting. Consider it “Pronghorn Light” in that it resembles the Nicklaus gem a great deal, but is packaged in a more laid-back muni-course vibe. In fact, it is the only municipally-run course in the region. Juniper was host of the 2007 and 2010 Oregon Open and a repeat US Amateur qualifier site for six consecutive years, 2006-2011.
3) Widgi Creek Golf Club – Even if you have been before, it’s worth going back over and over because it’s the kind of course that’s fun every single time you play. Nestled within the Deschutes National Forest, Widgi Creek is tight and the Par 5s are long. From the tips, none of the Par 5s are reachable in two and the Par 3s, well it’s even harder to hit the dance floor in regulation. Move up just one tee and everything changes. Widgi has been named the Local’s Favorite Course more than 10 times.
4) Tetherow – Voted a Top 10 course in Oregon by Golf Digest, Tetherow boasts an 18-hole championship semi-private course with a distinctive layout by David McLay Kidd – the award-winning architect of Bandon Dunes and Castle Course in Scotland. If it’s not already, this course should probably be on your bucket list. It’s a beast on the scorecard, but a feast for your eyes.
5) Aspen Lakes Golf Course – Arguably Central Oregon’s most scenic golf courses as its situated in the shadows of the majestic Cascades. Aspen Lakes is known for its red cinder bunkers which create a visual delight as they contrast with the green grass, blue skies and towering trees. When it opened Aspen Lakes was voted one of the best new courses in the US by Golf Digest.
There are 30 courses within 45 minutes of each other, so far too many to mention all of them here, but these are a few of our favorites!
